VARD’s cutting edge vessel for Norwind Offshore named Norwind Hurricane
VARD is proud to present the CSOV (Commissioning Service Operation Vessel) Norwind Hurricane to Norwind Offshore. The vessel was named at Vard Brattvaag, Norway, 21 March.

Second of five newbuilds from VARD
This is the second of five newbuild CSOV’s VARD is delivering to Norwegian Norwind Offshore. Norwind Offshore offers specialized vessels designed for advanced maritime operations in the development and service of the offshore wind sector.
VARD 4 19 design
The CSOVs designed and built for Norwind Offshore are tailor-made for world-wide services, support, and maintenance operations at offshore wind farms. The VARD 4 19 design is developed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway, and a highly versatile platform for all offshore windfarm support operations, focusing on onboard logistics, security, comfort, and superior operability. The vessels are equipped to provide services during both construction, operation, and maintenance of offshore windfarms.
Delivered ahead of schedule
- This is a big day for us in Norwind Offshore when vessel number 3 is delivered from Vard Brattvaag. We are looking forward to having the vessel in operation over the weekend to be able to continue our contribution to the development of more renewable energy. Accommodation for 87 persons
Norwind Hurricane has a length of 85 meters, a beam of 19.5 meters, and is equipped with a height-adjustable and 3D motion-compensated gangway with elevator system from SEAONICS, a height-adjustable boat landing system, and is prepared for battery solutions. The CSOV has accommodation for 87 persons on board.

Deliveries from VARD subsidiaries
The vessel has Vard Electro’s SeaQ Integrated Bridge System installed, - a bridge solution with an intuitive user interface designed with the operator in focus to create a safer operation environment. Organized to achieve a clean and efficient workspace, the bridge emphasizes ease of operation, safety, and ergonomics.
The vessel is prepared for a full digital vessel overview through the SeaQ Green Pilot that enables the owner to have a full overview of the energy consumption statistics. For control and monitoring of the vessel’s systems, the newbuilding is equipped with Vard Electro’s SeaQ Integrated Alarm System (IAS), Power Management System (PMS), and Energy Management System (EMS) to have full control of the vessel hybrid system.
VARD’s specialized subsidiary, Seaonics, supports the environmental focus with an all-electric lift and handling package. It includes the ECMC 32-meter walk-to-work gangway for safe personnel transfer and a 7-ton 3D compensated crane for efficient cargo operations. This is the first gangway delivery to Norwind Offshore from Seaonics.
Vard Interiors AS will deliver modern Interior solutions and green HVAC-R and Piping systems, aiming to create a comfortable living, and working environment onboard the vessel.
